Our first all-day excursion was to the city of Seville, which is the capital of the Andalucía region. While in Seville, we traveled to many historical and religious sites. Each site was equally majestic and awe-inspiring, in my opinion. From cathedrals to palaces, we saw just about everything.
One of our stops was the Royal Alcázar palace. Although this palace was commissioned for the Christian king, Peter of Castile, it has been used for many other purposes since then. The royal family of Spain actually still uses some parts of the palace as their official residence when they visit Seville. Even though the architecture was quite impressive, I found myself quite taken with flora (and fauna) of this site.
On your way into the palace, some of the first things you see are pretty ordinary looking bushes and a very distinct tree. The bushes have an oil on them which, when touched, rubs off on you and leaves a pleasant perfume-like scent. The tree seen below has a very noticeable bulge in its trunk, which is caused by the water that the tree stores inside.
Cuando entra el palacio las primeras cosas que ve son algunos arbustos que parecen ordinarios y un árbol muy distinto. Los arbustos tienen un aceite que, cuando alguien los toca, se queda en las manos y deja un olor como perfume. El árbol en esta foto tiene una protuberancia visible en su tronco porque el árbol guarda agua en el tronco.
One of my other favorite plants, which can actually be seen all around Seville, but looked particularly stunning in this setting, is the jacaranda tree. These trees added the perfect touch of nature to the scene by the pool, framing it quite nicely. We also saw entire walls filled with flowering plants which I forget the name of, but they were beautiful nonetheless. And lastly I have a picture of a beautiful red rose near which there was a peacock hiding in the bushes.
Una de las otras plantas favoritas de mi, que puede ver por toda la ciudad de Sevilla pero pareció muy impresionante en este lugar, es la jacaranda. Estos árboles añadieron el toque perfecto de naturaleza a esta escena cerca de la piscina. También vimos paredes enteras llenas de plantas florecientes que sus nombres me olvido, pero eran muy hermosas sin embargo. Y finalmente tengo una foto de una rosa hermosa y roja que estaba cerca de un pavo real escondido en los arbustos.
We also visited two churches in Seville, one of which was the church of Salvador. Previously a mosque, this building now stands as a church designed in the baroque fashion. From masterpieces that span entire walls to the intricate details on each individual statue, the church is truly a sight to behold. I was told that some of the statues even have eyes made of glass to appear more realistic and to convey more emotion.
También visitamos dos iglesias en Sevilla, una del cual era la iglesia del divino salvador. Previamente una mezquita, este edificio es una iglesia diseñada en el diseño barroco ahora. De obras maestras que abarcan toda la pared a los detalles intrincados en cada estatua, la iglesia es muy magnífica. Me dijeron que algunas estatuas tienen ojos hecho de vidrio para parecer más realista y para expresar más emoción.
The second church was the Sevilla cathedral, which is the largest gothic cathedral in the entire world. Believe me, it certainly felt like the largest cathedral when we were walking to the top. Even though the climb was exhausting, the view certainly was worth it. Once at the top, we had an amazing view of the entire city. Fortunately for all of us, the climb back down was a lot easier.
La segunda iglesia que visitamos fue la catedral de Sevilla, que es la catedral gótica más grande en todo el mundo. Créeme, estábamos conscientes de esta información mientras estábamos subiendo a la parte más alta. Aunque el subido era agotador la vista valía la pena. Cuando estábamos en la parte más alta había una vista increíble de la ciudad entera. Afortunadamente para nosotros, el descenso era más fácil que la subida.

paradas fue el Real Alcázar palacio. Aunque
este palacio fue encargado por el rey cristiano, Pedro de Castilla, el palacio
ha sido usado para muchos propósitos desde entonces. La familia real de España todavía usa algunas
partes del palacio como su residencia oficial cuando visita Sevilla. Aunque la arquitectura era muy impresionante,
me encontré captivada por la naturaleza de este sitio.
